Hidden Paradise with River Frontage

Hidden Paradise with River Frontage

For those who tire of the fast-paced, rat race of modern life, it is the tranquility of nature and time dedicated to family that make a holiday all the more rewarding.  Precisely what makes this hidden paradise the perfect holiday home, rarely available these properties are handed down for generations.

At the end of a dusty road that snakes through the countryside is the beautiful Vermaaklikheid town, in the Western Cape between Heidelberg and Riversdale. Tucked away from the modern world, that is where you’ll find the idyllic Paddasang farm, a five-acre riverside paradise with its own private jetty. Travel down the river and you will arrive at Witsand beach.

The property boasts four classic Cape Dutch cottages, three of which were originally built as individual units for three different families. They have since been modified (with a forth cottage added to the property) to provide plenty of electricity, hot water and privacy for family and friends.

Two of the three original homes were updated to sleep as many as 8 people, with the original main house simplified into a handsome kitchen, dining room and living area.

The fourth cottage and newest addition to the farm is now the main abode, and home to the best views on the farm with a gorgeous fireplace to keep you warm during the colder winter months.

Thanks to the current owner the cottages have been carefully added to over time to make them as simple and stunning as possible. From furniture to fittings, not a thing takes away from the riverside style that makes Paddasang so breath-taking.

(For our foreign readers, Paddasang is an Afrikaans word that means Frog Song. The name was inspired by the sounds of the fauna found on and around the property, which make it such a spectacular South African escape.)

Now with Acquire Africa, Paddasang seeks a new owner. A wonderful place to find yourself surrounded by natural splendor and take refuge along the Duivenhoks River, kayak, swim, fish or laze on the terrace with a gin and tonic,  it is the ideal home from home in South Africa’s scenic countryside.
